ATHLETICS - USA Multisport organisation confirms that the Pentathlon was introduced for the first time at the 18th Olympiad in 708 BC. The Pentathlon held a position of unique importance in the Games and was considered to be the climax, with the winner ranked as Victor Ludorum’ making it the oldest sports title or brand in the world'

SWIMMING - South African Youth Swimming Championships in Durban; the top two swimmers receive the Victor Ludorum and Victrix Ludorum trophies 

POLO - "Standing Rock" Polo Team of America have played in France, New Zealand and Arabia, where the Victor Ludorum Fair Play Award is more than just a trophy - 'it's a celebration of the values that define polo’s beacon of honour and respect for all who embody the spirit of fair play'.

HORSE Racing – Since 1962 the Victor Ludorum Hurdle is a National Hunt race run each year at Haydock Park. We also have champion horse called Victor Ludorum bred in England by his owners Arabian Godolphin. 

SAILING - Hayling Island Sailing Club award the Victor Ludorum prize to the sailor that achieves the best results over their Open Week

RUGBY - Marist College in Athlone, Ireland award the Victor Ludorum Trophy to the champion rugby team

 ** James Bond 007 creator Ian Fleming, was awarded the title of Victor Ludorum (Champion of the Games) at Eton College, in 1925 and 1926.

 

After the ‘Family Book Gathering’ in 2019 a film has been completed that explains the Family DISAPORA from the Great Famine of the 1840’s.

            Our Family Diaspora

Connemara in the west of Ireland is our ancestral homeland.  The name comes from the medieval ruling dynasty, the Connacht, whose name means "descendants of Conn".   Cousins who had contributed their own chapters came from four continents to Connemara in 2019 to launch our Family History book. 

To welcome them to Galway’s finest Sports Centre in Leitir Moir/Lettermore named after our uncle Michael Mhoir Connolly was;

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) headquarters are in Lausanne in Switzerland, where they fiercely protect the legacy and symbols of the Olympic movement. The three key symbols are the Olympic Rings, Torch and Crown of laurel leaves or Victor Ludorum.
